I’m an odd person, at least in terms of tastes. I can enjoy shows with a lot of action and violence. Then, directly after finishing something like, say, Baccano!, I can turn around and like something really girly and fluffy, like Fruits Basket. Thus, I’ve decided that I’m going on a search: an anime that has action and fluff.
Epic fight scenes/dark psychological thrillers right alongside adorable romance. A shoujo with a dark, awesome twist if you will. I know that this search will likely be fruitless (no pun intended), but a girl can dream, can’t she?
Thus, here comes the topic of Vampire Knight. I admit, I know that this probably won’t deliver at all on the first half of my mission statement. However, from what I’ve heard of reviews, this is like the Twilight of anime. In fact, considering the fact that this is a love-triangle-vampire-romance, it is the Twilight of anime. And, since I enjoy tearing into stuff that’s crap, I figured I’d check it out. I’ll also try to see if it really at least tries to convey a dark feeling, and try not to compare it to too much obscure stuff that nobody’s ever seen in the process.
Unfortunately, Viz subbed it, which means that the subtitles will be really small and timed poorly. I’ll try a bit of both sub and dub, I guess, and see which fits my fancy. Even though I probably like dubs (when they’re good) a bit more, the sub has an ace in the hole: Mamoru Miyano, who is probably my favorite voice actor in all of anime, English or Japanese.
