Dawnleaf Watches Gatchaman Crowds: Episode 1 – Rainbow!

This show is rainbow.

Everything’s colorful, the character designs are varied and fun, and there is an alien panda with anger issues.

The soundtrack’s a combination of pounding electronic beats and rock and orchestral pieces and a choir going “GATCHAMAAAAAN” in a very Queen-esque manner.

The opening has some freakin’ sweet animation (and engrish).

The baddies are alien rubix cube octopuses.

The people transform into robot suits via rainbow dance beat.

There is an insane high school girl who’s ridiculously excited about everything (but, I admit, I would be excited, too, if all this stuff happened to me), and it’s actually pretty funny.

Their secret base is like if the Men in Black was attacked by a modern arts exhibit.

Gatchaman Crowds is about a bunch of colorful characters fighting aliens in colorful supersuits with awesome music and animation.  And it’s amazing.

Okay, in all seriousness… That’s basically what I have to say about this show in a nutshell.  I absolutely adore the style used in this, everything’s so colorful and fun.

Their boss is a tiny panda.  Danganronpa, anyone?

Honestly, you could say that this is pretty silly (especially with the crazy hyper girl who’s basically like a Gatchaman fangirl becoming a Gatchamn and the panda).  But it’s silly in the fun, oh-so-watchable way.  For once, my premonition was correct.  This show is awesome.

I am completely willing to watch an anime with the visual stylings of Tsuritama about fighting aliens in powersuits.  I didn’t know how much I needed that until I saw this.

I normally hate transformation sequences, but I could watch these over and over again.  GATCHAMAAN, GAAATCHAMAAAAAAAAN-
Beyond that, there’s not much else to say, the show somewhat speaks for itself.  I’d highly recommend checking out at least one episode to see if the visuals are your thing, because they are so definitely mine.

And I like how insane/obnoxious/happy the high school girl is.  And her voice.  Her voice actress does an amazing job, someone give that woman a medal.

And I love that backpack.
